As a result of
advanced training and education, combined with a
vast diversity of skill sets, the workforce in
North Carolina's Northeast is one of our
greatest assets, and one of business's greatest
advantages. A diverse and unparalleled quality
of life in North Carolina’s Northeast Region
attracts highly-talented and skilled people.
The labor force in
Northeastern North Carolina is quality-conscious
with a strong work ethic. Our civilian labor
force consists of 174,976 people, with over
10,000 persons commuting to Virginia daily for
employment that would welcome the opportunity to
work closer to home.
Our region's
proximity to North Carolina and Virginia
military commands, the US Coast Guard Air
Station in Elizabeth City, and shipyards in
Newport News, VA offers a steady supply of
trained workers. A large number of exiting
military personnel are highly
trained in a variety of technical fields and have significant leadership
experience.
Attesting to the
availability of labor to support new and
expanding businesses, several highly successful
