an emerging and transforming region, North
Carolina's Northeast Region focuses regional
marketing efforts on
long-term strategies with an overall
goal of diversifying our regional economy,
creating jobs, and
capitalizing on our regional strengths. Target
clusters include
Automotive,
Aviation,
Boat Building,
Heritage Tourism,
Inner Coastal Development and
Life Sciences/Biotechnology.
The expansion of four-laned road systems (US 64,
US 17, US 168, US 264) has led to easy access
throughout the region. In NC's Northeast
Region, a 50-mile commute is just that, a
50-minute drive with no traffic congestion and
good roads. In NC's Northeast,
transportation is easy and stress-free.
Improvements in infrastructure (water, sewer,
natural gas and electrical) are enabling us to
compete globally for new jobs and investment.
North Carolina's Northeast Commission has

economic development in the sixteen county
